Merrill Gardens opens doors to new senior fitness partnership.

Tuesday, September 7th, 2021.

It's official! We're thrilled to announce that Merrill Gardens has chosen StrongerU Senior Fitness to help enhance their fitness programming.

Merrill Gardens has grown from one community in Seattle, Washington in 1993 to over 70 communities across the US. In phase one of the rollout, Active Living Program Directors at 24 Merrill Gardens communities will become StrongerU certified. Their vision has always been to provide seniors and their families with exceptional living that celebrates independence and enriches livelihood, and we're excited to help them fulfill that vision.

Recreation Professionals often struggle with delivering high-quality, engaging, and dynamic fitness programs due to lack of education, tools, and resources. Often times, questionable YouTube videos and watered-down workouts on Pinterest might be their only resource.

“Just because you are hired as an activity director for seniors doesn't mean you know what you are doing, or that the company you work for is going to provide you with that knowledge in your orientation," explained Pam Wolfe, who serves as the Corporate Lifestyle Manager for Merrill Gardens. "StrongerU knows Seniors, knows fitness and understands our industry and how busy we are. The variety offered also keeps you and your residents from getting bored.”.

StrongerU Senior Fitness empowers recreation professionals with both theoretical and practical knowledge in our instructor course. We're the only fitness education company globally to offer a monthly subscription that sends instructors 30 minutes of new, pre-choreographed content, in four formats, so that they can keep their classes fun and exciting.

“I am super excited for becoming more knowledgeable and confident in creating and teaching fitness classes to our seniors," shares Active Living Program Director Laura Brandel, who works at Merrill Gardens in South Carolina. "Fitness has always been a passion of mine, and now I have the opportunity to share that passion with our residents with daily classes both on land and in the pool.”

We applaud Merrill Gardens' commitment to investing in their staff to support the health and wellness of their residents. "I'm very excited to have this opportunity to take my senior exercise programs to the next level." said Patrick Conner Active Living Program Director in Washington.
